Dream, in a long solo, where we have had fun. The beauty surrounded by confusions wrapped between itself and our gullible song… The Afternoon of a Faun – Stéphane Mallarmé
Somiglianza is an ironic and joyful tribute to Nijinsky’s mythical creation and best-known modern
ballet: L’après-midi d’un faune. Combining end-of-century imagery and exotic
staging, Somiglianza questions symbolism in Western society. However, nothing is what it once
was, the faun is dressed in a white lacy nightshirt and the nymphs have morphed into
synchronised swimmers. Nijinsky’s creation about Debussy’s L’après-midi d’un faune, one of the
most renowned modern ballets, serves as the starting point for Kor’sia to show their particular
vision about the dance iconography.

“The De Rosa/Russo couple of the spanish company Kor’sia design, on a bare stage that is
immersed in a dream-like atmosphere thickened by mist, movements of a neo classical influence,
where we find hints of profiles and positions angled as a reference to Nijinski’s original.”
