Mario is an Albanian director and performer based in Athens, Greece. Despite the young of his age, he has already collaborated with established Greek artists with international activity. He has worked as an assistant of the renowned artist Euripides Laskaridis at the performance THIRÍO (Athens Biennale, 2018). He has also worked as an actor in the following performances: Days of June ’19: In the Manner of George Seferis (Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, 2019), Claudio Monteverdi: L’ Orfeo (Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, 2017), Thucydides Dramaticus: The Theater of War (Ancient Theater of Dodoni, 2017; Art Theater – Karolos Koun, 2016; Old Oil Mill, 2016). In 2020, he directed Pranvera, his first short film which was presented at TIFF(Tirana International Film Festival). Mario is a graduate of the Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire (2020) and his education is expanded with seminars and workshops around theatre and dance. In 2018, he took part in “Commedia dell’Arte” workshop at Tenta Summer School in Ferrara as a fellow member. In 2019, he participated in Screenwriters and Directors Lab by Oxbelly at Costa Navarino. The last three years, Mario has attended seminars of contemporary dance at the Athens Conservatoire.
His most recent collaboration was on the piece titled “Marcel Duchamp” in 2022, in partnership with Nova Melancholia. His directorial journey commenced with the production of “RAGADA,” a portion of which he previewed at Gerasimos Kappatos’s ROOMS2022 Festival before it premiered at the Sala theater. Following this, he presented “GOODBYE LINDITA” at the experimental stage of the National Theatre. His third work, “TAVERNA MIRESIA MARIO BELLA ANASTASIA,” which marks the final chapter of a trilogy, was showcased in July 2023 at the Athens and Epidaurus Festival.
